The concept of “bling” - in my world at least - is anything shiny, sparkly, colourful, pretty.
There are several kinds:
- “real bling” - like grandma’s pearls
- “serious bling” - salad jewels (you know - that have carats!)
- “party bling” - tiaras and things that don't do well in daylight
Other stuff can also be “blingy” - non-jewellery items that sparkle, like the “sparkle pager” in Grey’s Anatomy.
What I do, especially for the market stall, is “practical bling” - jewellery that you can wear anytime, priced so you can buy a piece without consulting your bank manager. And if you stop wearing the outfit it matches or change the colours in your wardrobe, you really don’t have to fret over the cost-per-wear!
The Market Stall has earrings, bracelets, necklaces and other items which are pre-made for my actual market stall appearances.
The selection of bracelets shown here illustrates the variety of styles and range of prices. Hand-crafted by me as the resident artisan, all items are still under $50. (In Aussie dollars that is!)
Though these pieces are pre-made, they are all individual - sometimes I repeat a design, but it won't be an exact duplicate. And I just don't make that many of any given design, so you probably won't see the same thing walking up the street towards you.
For something quite different, find out what chain maille jewellery is all about - like this example here, which is made from dark silver plated findings and features dark red multi-faceted glass beads.
Currently, I am offering a selection of chain maille bracelets through the Market Stall, but I am also making quite a few specific items on individual commission.
